St. Mary’s Parish Meeting: Thursday 14th March 2024 at 7.30 p.m. in The Ballroom, Cahir House Hotel

This is YOUR invitation to an open meeting of parishioners to propose a way forward for Cahir in response to the letter from Bishop Cullinan in which he asked all the parishes in the diocese to consider the implications of “the decline in the number of priests” available to celebrate Masses and pastor our parishes. The bishop’s letter was made available to you last October and is again available now in the church so that you can reflect further, ahead of the meeting, on the issues raised in the letter.

At the Parish Meeting, there will also be a discussion about the formation of a Parish Pastoral Council and, hopefully, the nucleus of a Parish Pastoral Council will be achieved by the end of the meeting.

I encourage you to make it a date now so that we can reach a consensus and move forward together. Proposals and decisions have to be made and sent to Waterford by 1st June 2024.

Changes to the weekday Schedule at St. Mary’s.

For the time being, Fr. Jack Meade is unable to come to Cahir to celebrate Mass on Mondays and Tuesdays. Regular attenders at weekday Mass discussed the implications of this at a meeting after Mass last Monday.

The meeting reached a decision by consensus that, while Fr. Jack is unavailable, Wednesday and Thursday will be days when there will be no Mass in Cahir.

The Weekday Schedule, will start on Monday 4th March until further notice,

Monday & Tuesday – Holy Mass @ 10:30am

Wednesday & Thursday – 10:30am: Liturgy of The Word & Exposition of The Blessed Sacrament.

Friday @ 10:30am – Holy Mass &

Exposition of The Blessed Sacrament

Sacrament of Penance

To encourage use of the Sacrament of Penance during Lent, Fr. Peter will be available to hear Confessions on Friday 11.00 – 11.30 a.m., Saturday 5.00 – 5.40 p.m. & by appointment.

A Lenten Prayer

God of all wholeness, heal our hearts of all that prevents us responding to our sisters and brothers excluded by poverty and prevented from living a full and healthy life. This Lent, may we: implore justice through our prayer, stand in solidarity through our fasting and reach out through our giving. Send your life-giving power to revive the weary, restore the broken and renew the face of the earth.
